Tonight I did something big. I started to my wedding shawl.
I also sent out save the dates.
This whole wedding thing suddenly feels a lot more real.

Merry Christmas

I hope everyone has a safe and happy holiday!

Food / dining ettiquette

Food / dining ettiquette.

I found this while poking around on pinterest recently.  I can’t even remember how many weddings I’ve been to where we debate the ‘which utensil is used first?’ issue but I think this handy little graphic shows that the Pretty Woman rule of starting from the outside and moving inward is a good rule of thumb to remember

I’ve been doing a lot of thinking lately.  Mostly about this whole wedding thing.  For a couple weeks after we got engaged I jumped right into planning mode.  I started making lists and spread sheets for venues, caterers, and all sorts of things.

And then last week I had moment sitting in the car, driving home with Rob, where I started to think about the small simple wedding we had often talked about.  And I wondered what happened to that idea?  It’s his wedding too and he’s always said he’d like to keep it small.

It seems like most people instinctively know if they want a big wedding or a small one.  But what about those of us who are up in the air?  How do you find the right balance of people, budget, and everything else?

This is one of those hard decisions that we’re still working on.  I’m trying to keep my budget down but I also want to have an awesome, fun, joyous celebration with our friends and families.  I’m not entirely sure where we’ll end up on this issue. Both of us are still thinking about it, but I think we’re going to end up doing something smaller than the 100 person bash I started to plan.

Collecting Ideas

Have you guys heard of Pinterest. Lately, I’ve been addicted to it. Mostly, I’m collecting ideas for the wedding.  We still have no definite plans so I’m just having fun looking around and day dreaming and I like finding pretty pictures.

One of my favorite things that I’ve found so far, via another pinner, is this…

I have a feeling these words will become ingrained in my head over the next few months.  It’s an important reminder as Mr D and I embark on this whole wedding planning thing.

For the curious here’s my wedding pinterest board.

This weekend Mr. D took a little trip up to Vermont.  Friday afternoon we went on a scenic drive through Smuggler’s Notch, and then decided to get out and walk around.  Then while we taking in the awe inspiring beauty of the mountains and a light snow he proposed.  Needless to say I am thrilled beyond words that such a wonderful man has asked me to marry him.  I hope everyone else had an equally wonderful weekend.
